Barry Conservation Camp 2018

Four CRGC Members’ Youngsters Eligible to Win a Week at Barry Conservation Camp

Chester Rod and Gun Club is sponsoring and paying full tuition for FOUR children (boys, or girls) age 10 to 16, at the UNH 4-H and NH Fish and Game Barry Conservation Camp in Milan New Hampshire to participate in either the Shooting Sports session June 24-29 or the Fishing Camp session July 8-13.*

Shooting Sports: Two winners will participate with Certified Instructors in learning marksmanship, safe and responsible use of firearms, and the basic principles of hunting. Core concepts will emphasize safety, ethical development, personal responsibility, and life-time recreational skills. Disciplines will include archery, rifle, pistol, shotgun, and black powder. Campers will also have a chance to experience many traditional camp activities during the week. Previous shooting sports experience is preferred but not essential. Youth who are not truly interested in learning about shooting sports will be wise to not attend this camp, since that is the main activity.

Fishing Camp: Two winners, if novices will learn the basic skills and equipment needed to get started fishing while campers with more experience will work on improving their fishing skills and exploring the finer details of the angling world. Campers will also hike, swim, canoe, etc.

We will draw the winning application form on February 5, 2018 at the CRGC clubhouse during the Board of Directors meeting.

To be eligible, a boy or girl must be the child or grandchild of a current CRGC member, be between the ages of 10 and 16 on the dates of the camp, may apply for both camps on separate applications (if having won the 2017 Shooting Sports award, that child may only apply for the Fishing Camp) have written parent or guardian permission and fill out a CRGC Parental Permission and Application Form and mail it to the address on the form. The form must be received by CRGC by midnight March 1st.  The Fishing Camp form is available here, and the Shooting Sports Camp form is available here.

All necessary detail information will be provided by 4-H to the winners. Transportation to and from Barry Camp at the Berlin Fish Hatchery is the responsibility of the winner.
