The CRGC indoor archery program is a joint effort between Lamprey River Bowhunters and Chester Rod & Gun Club. The idea rose out of desperation amongst the Lamprey River Bowhunters losing their indoor facilities.
At the time, the Brentwood Recreational Center was being sold to the town of Brentwood. The town’s plan was to give the existing building a complete makeover which included the basement area where, every winter for 10 years, the Lamprey River Bowhunter’s league was held. So, Kevin Laliberte, being a member of CRGC and a member of Lamprey River got together with Phil Lyons the President of LRB and approached the members and BOD of CRGC to approve the combined club winter league.
CRGC offers participation in Indoor Archery leagues during the Winter and Spring. The Spring league is tailored to beginners and focuses on safe shooting techniques as well as overall archery improvement skills. The Winter league is tailored toward more accomplished shooters. All leagues have limited enrollment, on a first come first served basis, to allow for the safety of all participants. Leagues welcome the participation of both men and women.
Compound and traditional bows are welcome. Crossbows and Airbows are Not Allowed on the Indoor Archery Range. Scoring is done on a handicap basis similar to golf.
Fees for participation vary based on the costs associated with the functioning of the league. The fee collected goes toward supplies and a banquet at the end of the league. All remaining funds are for the benefit of the CRGC.
Each League meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 until approximately 9:00PM and runs for 8-12 weeks plus one additional week for make-ups. The dates for the League sessions are posted on the CRGC website calendar.
The League is open to compound and traditional bow shooters, new shooters, and the public and all are very welcome to participate. So get your archery friends and come join us for some competitive and fun archery shooting in the comfort of our heated and air conditioned Indoor Archery Range.
